About Hotel Union Geiranger
A short story about a long history
The hotel was built in 1891, originally in wood with inspiration from the dragon style or Swiss style.
Julie and Karl Mjelva bought Hotel Union Geiranger in 1899. The enterprising family also started a car factory, power plant, and stove factory on the site. Hotel Union has been expanded and rebuilt several times.
What remained of the wooden hotel was removed in 1979. The hotel has since been expanded, with a modern conference and seminar division, swimming pool, a new top floor with 13 suites, a vintage car exhibition, nightclub, spa area, and continually new offerings inside and out.
The strong Union atmosphere, with quality and service for generations, has been continued by Monja and Sindre Mjelva as hosts. They are today hosts in the fourth generation of the hotel.
